Credit Card Setup

I use QuickBooks Desktop 2021. I have a client that wishes to be able to accept credit cards for maintenance payments. I have this subscription set up for my account. Signing in I see the clients account in the list but when selecting the account, I get feedback popup that say's I cannot setup this account.

I am sure it is a simple procedure but am a little baffled. Maybe I have to set up a separate subscription for the client.

Credit Card Setup

Hi there, @jdrichardson. I can see the importance of setting up a credit card to process payments in QuickBooks. I'm pleased to share more information about credit card setup to process payments in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2021.

If you signed up for QuickBooks Payments through a different QuickBooks product, you can connect your payments account for processing in QuickBooks Desktop. Please know, you can link only one QuickBooks Payments account to one company file at a time in QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to the Customers menu.
  2. Select Link Payment Service to Company File. If you see a message about credit card protection, fill out the fields and select OK.
  3. Enter the user ID and password you used to sign up for QuickBooks Payments. Then select Sign In.
  4. Select Connect. Or if you're transferring your payments account to another company file, select Transfer and then Yes, transfer

Regarding the error you are experiencing, we can investigate whether your account is linked to a different company file when setting up payments. You have the option to subscribe to a multi QuickBooks account with one company file connected to one payment account.

Anytime you have questions about accepting payments in QBDT, you can post them here and I'd be happy to answer.
