Join nowok. So for years I used desktop QB for my point of sale in my store. I had a payments account and it worked just fine. Somewhere along the lines I decided to try online didn't like it . Then I ended up using Quickbooks POS and absolutely LOVED it , then as you all know they ended it . boo. Migrated over to Shopify and I absolutely hated it , then started to kind of like it , now after all of the BS of the migration , they are telling me that i cannot sell vapes through Shopify (don't even sell them online only in person, yes I have all of the licenses required ) Shopify just doesn't allow it .. They are giving me 2 days to add a third party payment processing company or they've threatened to hold all of my incoming funds!! I don't really sell anything online anyway I could care less about the website shop.. I just want to go back to the old days. Quick books desktop & a card reader to process in person credit cards sales . is this even still an option ?? I have a very small boutique . I am the only person who works there. someone please let me know if this is still even a thing anymore
Welcome to the Community, amy.
Let me share some information about the Point of Sales in QuickBooks.
Since QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale has already been discontinued, the option to process in-person credit card sales with a card reader is already unavailable. We understand that every company has its own regulations and Shopify chooses not to allow the selling of vapes. However, you can look for a supported third-party application that supports your preferred method.
Additionally, if you want to run a report and then personalize or want to specify your data, you check this article for more guidance: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have other questions about QuickBooks Desktop, feel free to include them in the comments below. I'll be around to lend a hand. Keep safe!
You can use QB Desktop as the POS and a 3rd party merchant service. Another option, you can use a 3rd party inventory management app running on a mobile phone as the POS to accept payments and integrate it with QB Desktop.
