Buy now & saveHello,
I recently helped a client switch to using QBO for all of their products and services and payments. They are now primarily using the GoPayments App and bluetooth reader with an iPad.
The one issue they are having is that there does not seem to be a way to use the GoPayments app with a barcode scanner. They have entered all of the SKUs in their Products and Services. But there is no way to scan a barcode or connect a reader.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Welcome to the Community, @Proffitt Financial. QuickBooks GoPayments is a mobile app designed for businesses to process payments while on the go. While it offers convenient features for managing transactions and payments, it does not currently include a barcode scanner feature.
However, you can manually input product details into your transactions or explore third-party applications that come equipped with a barcode scanner and are compatible with QuickBooks. I’m here to help guide you in finding a suitable app.
Here's how to find a third-party application:
To monitor the status of sales transactions, including open and paid invoices within QuickBooks Online (QBO), visit the Sales Transactions page. You can view, create, and edit transactions accordingly. For more details, check out this guide: View sales transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you might want to void a payment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of your financial records. Here's a helpful article on how to do that in QuickBooks: Void a payment with the GoPayment app.
Moreover, consider utilizing the QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted service. This service provides access to a team of financial experts who assist in matching and categorizing transactions, as well as reconciling accounts, allowing you to focus more on business growth.
If you have any more questions about the GoPayments app or any other features, feel free to hit the Reply button. I'm here to assist you!
Thanks! Do you anticipate this being an added feature to the GoPayments App? I have requested the feature in my account, but wanted to see if it is even on the horizon.
I don't quite understand why there would be a SKU entry in products and services but no real practical way to use them without finding a 3rd party app.
Hello there, @Proffitt Financial.
Thank you for reaching out with your inquiry regarding the integration of a barcode scanner feature in the QuickBooks GoPayments app.
Currently, there have been no official updates or announcements regarding the inclusion of this feature in QuickBooks Online. However, your feedback is valuable to us, in shaping our product improvements.
Additionally, I acknowledge your concerns regarding the practical use of SKU entries in products and services. Although QuickBooks GoPayments currently requires manual input or implementing a third-party app for barcode scanning, we are constantly working to improve user experience and streamline business processes.
Meanwhile, I suggest considering my colleague's recommendation to use a third-party application that integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks and features barcode scanning capabilities. This approach can help you manage your transactions more effectively until such functionality is directly available within GoPayments.
