Invoice [Invoice No.] Not Working

Invoice [Invoice No.] is not longer automatically entering the invoice number since this update earlier this week. I've deleted this in the settings and reset it and it is still not working. Please help.

Invoice [Invoice No.] Not Working

Hi, @torwar. I'm here to help.

It appears that your concern is about sending an email invoice to your customers and that the email subject line doesn't automatically populate the invoice number. I can help provide the initial troubleshooting steps to isolate what's causing the issue.

I recommend using the standard message from the Accounts and Settings page if you haven't done so yet. You can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon. Then, Accounts and settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab.
  3. Choose the Messages section.
  4. Click on Use standard message.
  5. Hit Save. Then, Done.

After this, access your account through your browser's incognito mode first, to isolate the possibility of this being a temporary browser problem. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Shift + Command + N

Once done, open a sample invoice transaction, click on Review and send, and recheck the email subject line if the invoice number populates. I've attached a screenshot for visual reference:

Invoice [Invoice No.] Not Working

This did not work and I followed it step by step. The incognito method was unsuccessful.

Invoice [Invoice No.] Not Working

Thanks for getting back into this thread, torwar. I'll make it up to you by ensuring you get the best help available so this gets sorted out immediately.

I appreciate you for using incognito mode to access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. If you haven't already, I suggest clearing your regular browser's cache. Clearing the cache or cookies is the best way to get a clean slate for your browser. Otherwise, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

If the problem continues after the troubleshooting steps above, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. They have the essential tools to check your account securely and perform a screen-sharing session to investigate this behavior further.

Here’s how to get in touch with them:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Click the ? Help button at the top right corner.
  3. Select Contact Us and enter a brief discussion about your concern.
  4. Click Continue and choose a way to connect with us.

Moreover, you can decide whether to email or print your invoices now or later. Refer to this article for details on how to do it in batches instead of one at a time: Email or print multiple sales forms in QuickBooks Online.

Kindly return to this post if there's anything else you need to know about your sales transactions. I'll be sure to get back to you. Stay safe.
