My customer just emailed me and said the QuickBooks Online invoice I sent her is not secure! So I tried to open it and it is blocked and says the certificate has expired! I have been looking in my QBO payment gateway interface and can't find anything on this. Is this a QBO error? How do I fix this asap! It is tax season and my invoices are going out.
This is unusual, jewelzr.
Let me make it up to you by ensuring this gets resolved.
The issue in your sent invoices could be browser-related. The outdated stored cache can affect the performance of the program.
To rectify this, let's access your QuickBooks Online account via a private window. This is a good place to determine if there's an issue with the browser. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
Once logged in, try emailing your invoice. If it works, let's clear the browser's cache to ensure the program performs efficiently. Otherwise, you can use other supported browsers. They also provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks.
In case none of this fixes the problem, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.
Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you personalize the appearance and layout of sales forms so you can add the info that matters most to your business: Customize Invoices, Estimates, and Sales Receipts.

Hi jewelzr,
One of our clients notified us of the same issue yesterday. I resent the invoice today and asked him to try the pay button again. This resulted in the same issue again. I discovered the following workaround that worked for our client:
1. Open the customer's invoice.
2. Click on "Print or Preview" at the bottom of the invoice window and select "Print or Preview" in the small pop-up that follows.
3. Click on the blue "Get link to this invoice" at the bottom of the Print Preview window.
4. The wording has now changed to a link with a blue "Copy link" to the right of it that you need to click on.
5. Paste that copied invoice link into a separate email explaining to your client that they should use the link to make their payment.
When I used this method, our client said that the link opened a secure payment window that showed "https" and the lock icon in the address bar, rather than "http" and a warning of an unsecure webpage.
Aside from this method, please let everyone know if the other commenter's method works as I do not want to keep using this workaround for all of our clients. Thanks and good luck.
