Quickbooks Payments vs. Square

We are currently using Square to process payments for a brand new coffee business.  We have multiple variations on practically every item we sell.  Americano is the item, Iced or Hot and each size offering are the variations.  We are finding that syncing with the "Connect to Square" app in QBO does not recognize the different variations, only the parent item.  This in turn means I have to review every single sales transaction to ensure that we are importing sales data correctly.  I have double and triple checked that the names are identical to Square (with variation details included) and that we have matching SKUs as well.  But still, the data isn't importing correctly.  I've read all over these community forums and the general answer I am finding is that this is just a flaw between QBO and Square at this time and there is no workaround.

Ultimately my question is this: if we change to Quickbooks Payments for our payment processing, will each variation come over correctly? Does Quickbooks Payments even offer variations on items?

Quickbooks Payments vs. Square

I appreciate the details you've provided, gracefrenzel. Allow me to share some information about how variant works in QuickBooks.

A variant on items isn't currently offered in QuickBooks Payments. This feature accepts payments for the sale transactions and not per item.

You might want to consider using our QuickBooks Desktop version. You can manage and set up variants on items using this program.

You can use our trial links to explore and experiment with the features and options available in this product.

In the meantime, I'd encourage you to visit our QuickBooks Blog site for product updates as well as business tips from our accountant.

I'm just a post away should you need anything else. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
