1.How do we switch to another payment processor in QB POS?

2. QB info article states store exchange will no longer be supported but can be done "in the following 4 ways" but then never lists the ways...How can store exchange be done?

Shopify POS is not what we were told, assemblies cannot be transferred from QB POS...Most of our items are assemblies (almost 2,000) so if this info can't be moved to shopify POS and we have to rebuild from scratch then there's no reason for us to convert to shopify, its not the greatest and the only reason we would use it is that we were told the transition would be seamless, its not.

So now our search for a POS/inv system starts over and we want to continue using QB POS until we find a suitable replacement.

QB reported that customers can continue using QB POS with another payment processor but how is that done?

I was on the phone w/ square yesterday and they said there should be an option in preferences --> sales receipt to check a box to use square reader but its not there.

I completely understand how inconvenient and frustrating this situation must be for you, drew1.

Since QuickBooks Point of Sale (QB POS) was already discontinued last October 3, 2023, there's no more option to use another payment processor in the program since it will no longer receive security patch updates and Payments and Connected Services.

Furthermore, Intuit has joined Shopify to provide an up-to-date retail solution that seamlessly integrates with QBDT Financial Software. And you're correct in pointing out that Shopify does not support assembly quantities. In this case, you can explore third-party apps in the Shopify App Store to find a suitable solution for your business.

Also, the Store Exchange will not be available using the Intuit Service. Thus, you can use any of the other four methods to exchange data between the stores: Desktop emailWeb-based emailRemovable Media, and Network file transfer. Refer to this article for more details about this process: Store Exchange Overview.

Though you can use the QB POS software until you find another POS system, please remember that Intuit will no longer support the product. Please visit this article for detailed information about this process: QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.

If you want to learn more about how to share information between QuickBooks POS and QBDT, check out this article: Financial Exchange Overview.

Please don't hesitate to post again or comment below if you have clarifications about the discontinuation of QuickBooks POS. We'll always be around to assist you.

The end of life announcement said another payment processor could be used...Honestly this entire thing has been a complete disaster and you're going to lose a lot of customers over it, shopify too.

-Was pitched as a seamless transition to shopify, ignoring the HUGE issue that assemblies won't transfer. This means customers have to rebuild their entire inv system from scratch.

-Shopify POS can't do a fraction of the things QB POS could do, its not a suitable alternative for most QB POS users. Of course we only found this after spending thousands on new hardware.

This could not have been fumbled worse. You're kneecapping our business right before the holiday season.

Was intuit aware that there are no 3rd party apps to move assemblies to shopify? This is a huge problem for the majority of QB POS customers and many (like us) will no longer be moving to shopify POS bc of this issue.

Why can't intuit develop a tool to export assemblies?

We went to Lightspeed R Series - Another disaster. My questions is:

We have Qbks POS Desktop that does financial Exchange with Qbks Enterpeise Desktop (All Located on Server) Can we continue to use this set-up with a third party Credit Card Processor. Can we go back to old system?

Our current set up is using a 3rd party processor w/ QB POS. You have to type in the $ amt on the terminal which isn't ideal but we're hoping to buy time with this process until we figure out where to go next.

I was told by QB that we can continue to use the POS indefinitely and that financial exchange should continue to work but I don't know if thats true or not.

One thing I'm fairly certain of, shopify is going to be shocked by how few ppl transfer from QB pos. I don't know if they didn't understand the software or what the deal was but it is not compatible with most QB POS customers needs at all.

We recognize the need to use financial exchange with the old QuickBooks Point of Sale version, MNINursery.

Since QuickBooks POS has already been discontinued, you can still use the old system if you're exporting data from the program. Thus, as mentioned by my colleague, Kevin_C, above, you may use any of the other four methods to exchange data between the stores, and that includes the following:

  • Desktop email
  • Web-based email
  • Removable Media
  • Network file transfer

You may refer to the Configure Point of Sale Store Exchange section outlined in this guide for more detailed information: Store Exchange Overview.

Moreover, I've included this handy resource to further guide you with additional details about the product's discontinuity: QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.

We'll keep our ears open for any added queries when handling QuickBooks POS. Please don't hesitate to let us know in the comments below, and we'll get around to providing further help. Keep safe.

Thanks for the feed back - I am going to try some test runs and see what happens going back to QBKS POS.

Is any firm decided to maintain QBPOS after it's discontinuation?  If so, who?  Shopify is not ready for prime time for any medium-sized business with scale.  We migrated to Counterpoint, which has it's own set of issues.  Would like to use QBPOS if we can find someone to maintain it.

Hi Wally, what do you need maintained specifically?

You can still use it, you just need a 3rd party payment processor and then set up another non QB store exchange. It was pretty easy to do.

There is currently nothing we have come across that would work anything like QB POS so we're not switching.

Hi Drew, thank you.  We switched to Counterpoint in January, and wish we did not and we're not happy and looking for alternatives.  Ideally, we were hoping that some firm would have purchased the sw from QBPOS or could maintain it if there were problems.  CC's process just fine (we integrated with Verosa), which interfaced with our CC processor, Elavon...Verosa was great.

So, in general, was hoping that a firm would surface that you could call if you have problems with QBPOS.  We're considering going back.
