I am dedicated to giving you thorough, step-by-step guidance on paying invoices using credit card to ensure that you successfully navigate and resolve this situation within the program, Scott.
Creating invoices in self-employed is only for record-keeping purposes. Therefore, it is not possible to manually charge your client’s credit card account.
You can only mark the invoices as paid after your customer has manually made a payment using their credit card. Here's how to do it:
- Go to Invoices from the menu, then select Create invoice.
- Select an existing customer, or create a new one by entering their name, address, and email address.
- Decide when you want to be paid by and set the date in the Due Date field.
- In the Description field, click the Add work button to add items or services you sold.
- Choose Flat rate or By hour from the dropdown menu. Or select By item if you're charging for a product and enter an amount.
- Then click Add to invoice.
- You can also enter the credit card information manually under the Message section.
- To add more items to the invoice, select Add work.
- When you're ready, select Send invoice to email your invoice. You can also select the arrow and Preview to see what your customer will receive.
Once you receive the payment, you should mark it as paid. Here's how:
- Go to Invoices.
- Look for the invoice.
- Click the small arrow ▼ icon in the Action column.
- Select Mark as paid. If you're on a web browser, select Send to send your customer a copy of their paid invoice. If you are using the mobile app, select "Email" instead.
Otherwise, you can utilize the Online Payments feature to accept clients' credit card payments in the Turn on payments section.
