Sales Receipts attached to email don't send

It's nice to have you hereb, Irene Lewis,

I'll make sure you're able to send sales receipt attachment using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020.

As an initial step, let's check the file for any damage that happened during the upgrade by running the Verify and Rebuild Utility tool. The Verify Data can initially identify any data issues within your company file. Then, the Rebuild tool will self-resolve it. Below are the steps on how to do it:

Verify data:

  1. Go to File, then Utilities and choose Verify Data.

If it will detect an error, proceed and Rebuild your data:

  1. Go back to the File menu and then Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
  2. Choose OK if you’ll receive a message to back-up your company file.
  3. After creating the back-up file, the Rebuild Data utility will run automatically.
  4. Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.

Additionally, we changed the format of the attachments directory from a folder with individual files into it into a Disk Image file with a .qbattach extension. You can probably duplicate it, change the extension on the duplicate to .dmg, and then open it.

Sales Receipts attached to email don't send

Thank you, Charies_M.

I have verified and rebuilt data (it did find some issues.)

I found the attachment library. When I try to open it, I get this error:

There is no application set to open the document “Attachments Library.qbattach”.

I am unable to duplicate the file (duplicate is grayed out.)

Any thoughts?

Thank you, Charies_M.

I was able to verify and rebuild the date (there were some issues).

I am unable to open the attachments library. I get this error message:

There is no application set to open the document “Attachments Library.qbattach”.

When I try to open an application it goes to QB but nothing happens.

When I try to duplicate the file, duplicate is grayed out.

Any thoughts?

Irene

Thanks for coming back, Irene Lewis

I appreciate you for performing the steps provided by my colleague. To open the attachments library, hold down the control key and select a file of the given type in the Finder. Then, a contextual menu appears. Once done, release the control key and hold down the option key. From the contextual menu, select the submenu Always Open With and then the application you want to open all files of that type.

We can also save first the sales receipts as PDF files to keep the record before sending them using email. To share, view, or print PDF files, use Adobe's Acrobat Reader. Here's how:

  1. Select the form you want to save.
  2. Tap the Print icon.
  3. Select PDF, then Save as PDF.

Here's an article you can refer to for more details about email sales forms, invoices, and statements in QuickBooks. If the same thing happens, I'd recommend consulting our QuickBooks Mac Care Team. There they can check your account and can help you verify what's causing this odd behavior. Here's how:

  1. Click Help at the top menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question? window, select Contact us.
  3. Go to the first section and enter the details of your concern.
  4. Click Search and move to the second section.
  5. Select how you want to interact with them (phone or chat).

This doesn't work:

"To open the attachments library, hold down the control key and select a file of the given type in the Finder. Then, a contextual menu appears. Once done, release the control key and hold down the option key. From the contextual menu, select the submenu Always Open With and then the application you want to open all files of that type."

In Finder, when I search for and find the QB attachments library, I cannot open it. When I hold the control key down, nothing happens, there is no file to select.

I know how to save receipts as PDFs and send that way BUT that adds way too much time to the process.
