Show Hierarchy in Check Writing

Every time I write a check, the account string at the top shows the flat view and not the hierarchy view.  How can I set this so I only see the hierarchy view in the account string when writing a check?

Show Hierarchy in Check Writing

Hi there, @NateCLathrop.

I got here steps to get a hierarchical view in the account string when writing a check.

You can change the view by selecting Hierarchical View from the action menu.

After selecting the Hierarchical View from the Customers window, let's go to the settings and save the current desktop view.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, select Desktop View on the left panel.
  3. Select My Preferences.
  4. Under Desktop, put a check mark on the Save current desktop option.
  5. Hit the OK button.

If you can't see this option, then we’ll need to run the verify rebuild utility tool. This finds common issues in your software and fixes them immediately.

To learn more about writing checks, I'd recommend checking out this article: Create, modify, and print checks. It also includes topics about deleting or voiding checks, printing, and memorizing them, to name a few.

I also encourage reading our FAQs page to know the different tricks in printing checks with QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Let me know if you have other writing check concerns or inquiries about managing your transactions in QBDT. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
