splitting invoices

Good day, ceci3. I'll explain the process of separating invoices within QuickBooks Online (QBO) so that your customers use different credit cards when making payments.

Per invoice can only be paid using a single credit card. You can make a progress invoicing to split the transaction into multiple payments using different credit cards. Here's how:

  1. Turn on the Progress invoicing feature by going to the Gear> Account and settings> Sales>Progress Invoicing.
  2. Once done, go to the +New button and choose Estimate from the options.
  3. select the customer for whom you are creating the estimate.
  4. Proceed to fill out the remaining details of the estimate.
  5. Finally, click on either Save and new, Save and close, or Save and send to complete the process.

Then, from the estimate, click the Create invoice button and select appropriate option on how much do you want to invoice.

When you get in the Invoice page, you'll see payment options under the Online Payment section. If you enabled QuickBooks Payments and allow your customer to pay you using credit card, make sure the Cards box is ticked.

After sending the invoice, customers will have the option to make payment by entering their credit card details. When you create an additional invoice for the remaining amount and send it to the customer, they can pay you a different credit card by entering the appropriate information.

Please note that you can send a single invoice. Your customer can edit the amount and make partial payments if needed. Then, they can pay the remaining balance by entering the other details of their credit. card

If you are not using QuickBooks Payments or if you are using a third-party application, your customers still have the choice to make payments using various credit cards, depending on the service you are utilizing.

To ensure accurate record, it is necessary to manually enter credit card payments that are processed outside of QuickBooks. This involves recording invoice payments in QuickBooks Online: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further inquiries regarding payment processing or managing customer transactions, please don't hesitate to ask. Goodbye for now, and take care!
