Unable to edit invoices due to inventory counts

I am working to edit invoices for customers, and have recently began using QB to track inventory quantities. When I attempt to edit an invoice that was created *before* I started using QB to track inventory, I am getting an error message that says something like

"You can’t delete or void this transaction because it was created before you started tracking quantity on hand for the following: *product name*."

I have, one time only, been able to delete that product line, then add it in again, and that solved the issue. Again, that only occurred once. I am continuing to receive that error message even when I try that method. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Unable to edit invoices due to inventory counts

Let me ensure to sort this out for you, @grizzlyfire.

I want to explain why you’re getting that error message when editing invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The error message occurs when editing transactions that may include an inventory dated before you began tracking the quantity on hand. To rectify this matter, please ensure that the transaction date was the same date when you started tracking the quantity on hand of this item. Otherwise, you can manually change the invoice date to the date after you toggle on the inventory tracking.

  1. Navigate to the Sales menu and go to the All Sales tab.
  2. Look for the invoices you want to edit.
  3. Change the date of the transaction and click Save.
