Unwanted upgrade

Why was my account upgraded? It happened more than once in 4 months. Started at $26 / Month and 6 months later was being charged $180.

Unwanted upgrade

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, KKROUSE.

If your QuickBooks Online subscription is linked with a QuickBooks Online Accountant subscription, your accountant can upgrade or downgrade it anytime. It's possible this could have something to do with why you see your subscription level changing to something else. In the event you're a client of an accounting professional who uses QuickBooks Online Accountant, you'll want to check with them to confirm if any changes have been made from their end.

Aside from that possibility, subscriptions can only be upgraded by an account's primary or company admins. If you feel someone's accessing your account without permission and making changes that haven't been approved by you, you can change the account's password, email address, user ID, etc.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click the Profile icon, next to Settings (⚙️).
  3. Choose Manage your Intuit Account.
  4. Hit Sign in & security.
  5. Pick User ID, Email address, Password, or Phone.
  6. Make the changes.
  7. Select Save.

You can also utilize your audit log to identify which user made these specific changes on the account.

In the event you'd like to discuss your account and why you're being billed for the amounts you're seeing, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and discuss the account with you.

I've also included a couple detailed resources about working with QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward:

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome day!
