Why are Melio ACH bill payments so slow? And why all the issues?

When I first signed-up for Melio to perform online payments to my vendors, I expected payments to take 1-3 business days. However, I've found the payments to consistently take 4-5 business days. Most recently, vendors complained that they received notifications that a payment was on its way on Friday, but as of Monday morning the funds were still not in their account.

In addition, I've found that scheduling in advance several online payments at a time may result in the payments failing to automatically match in the QBO bank feed once they funds are drawn. I then have to manually change the draw account on each payment back to my main checking account.

Why are Melio bill payments so slow? Melio came highly recommended by Quickbooks, so I was expecting a solid solution, but instead find it rather rickety. Any alternatives that make ACH payment of multiple vendors consistent, quick, and easy to book in QBO?

Melio is trash....we have a vendor that uses it and it ALWAYS takes a WEEK for payment to arrive from the time they initiate payment....not sure why they exist or are able to stay in business, any other payment processor is faster....Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, ACH, Wire...you name it, it's days faster

Completely agree. It actually hinders me in my business because it takes so long.

Our clients say paying bills on a separate Melio account is more reliable and free (except paying bills using a credit card) than using the bill payment feature powered by Melio on QBO

Doesn't work with QB Desktop.

It's not possible to open a separate Melio account if you already have activated Melio with QB Desktop.  Why did they not test and solve these problems years ago???

Why are Melio ACH bill payments so slow? And why all the issues?

Our homeowners association is a QuickBooks user and money they sent me on July 11th has not arrived as of the morning of July 16th. The amount is over $34,000 and I am wondering who is earning interest on my money while it is in transit. When I send money via ACH using other providers it arrives within a day or so.

I would like an explanation from Intuit.

Why are Melio ACH bill payments so slow? And why all the issues?

The time and care you've taken to inform us of this issue is highly valued, rs66. Your thorough explanation of the problem is much appreciated. I'm here to provide some insights into how fund transfers typically work and, if needed, guide you toward the appropriate support channels.

QuickBooks Payments processes fund transfers and deposits within a 2 to 5 business day. However, the actual time it takes for the money to appear in your account is influenced by various factors. These include:

  • The exact time when the transaction was initiated.
  • The particular banks involved in the transfer.
  • The size of the transaction, a large sum, can potentially cause longer processing times. (For substantial transactions, additional security measures or holds might be in place)

If you haven't received the funds by the end of the expected timeframe, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Payments Support for assistance. These experts have access to advanced tools, including secure screen-sharing capabilities. They can also provide specific insights and potentially expedite the resolution process.
