Why is paypal listed as the BILLPMT on the Checking Register for a different account?

Hi there, HankSterling.

QuickBooks is dependent on what PayPal shares with us. I'd recommend sharing more details of the transactions to determine why it shows BILLPMT on the Checking Register.

I hope you can respond to me on this thread so we can work on your concern together. Please know I'm ready to assist further. Have a good one.

This screenshot is helpful, HankSterling.

Renaming your Accounts Payable to PayPal may be one of the possible reasons. Doing so will list it as BILLPMT in the Checking Register. Let's run the Transaction Journal report to verify this.

Here's how:

  1. Double-click the bill payment that has PayPal listed on it.
  2. Go to Report.
  3. Select Trasnaction Journal.
  4. On the Account column, check the account.

If the Accounts Payable isn't showing, we'll have to rename the PayPal account. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to Company and then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate PayPal.
  3. Under the Account drop-down menu, select Edit Account.
  4. Rename the account to Accounts Payable.
  5. Once done, click on Save & Close.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you accurately track the money you owe your vendors: Accounts Payable Workflows.

Please keep us posted if you have other questions or concerns about managing and paying bills in QuickBooks. It's our priority to ensure your record is accurate.
