Why is the Checkbooks to PayPal wizard broken! I have used this great link generator for 12 years, and now it suddenly is broken. Please somebody advise of a possible work-around.
The symptom, is that after I select a Checkbooks invoice to generate the link, it becomes stuck, with no way out. Not good! I need to generate these links to collect my normal business revenue! How can this suddenly no longer work!!!!!!
Thanks! Steve.
Hi there, @texaspcdoctor.
Let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release, this way we can ensure that your software has the latest features and fixes. To do so, please follow these steps:
When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, select Yes.
Once installed, restart your computer. Then, run your PayPal wizard again. For more info see this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our technical support team to review the connection between QuickBooks Desktop and PayPal wizard. Let me walk you through the steps:
Also, you may consider reading helpful articles that can guide you in managing your books in QuickBooks Desktop: QBDT help articles. From here, you'll also learn about setting up and connect apps, track employees' time, set up online payments, etc.

No, sorry, this did not fix the problem. Yesterday, I spent 3 hours on the phone with multiple QB support personnel, and the the topic is still not resolved. Of course, during this, we uninstalled and re-installed QBD more than once. This is becoming a bad problem for me, since this is how I collect payments from many of my customers. I REALLY NEED this functionality to run my business. I see that others have the same issue. I am getting a little desperate Thank you very much, Steve.
After 3 hours on the phone the other day, the agent left me. I have no ticket number, and no apparent interest in the issue affecting many. What am I supposed to do now??? Waste 3 more hours with somebody else who doesn't know squat about the Quickbooks PayPal wizard.
Why couldn't the support agent I spoke with send me an email, and try to reconnect with me?
VERY UNHAPPY!
I pay $320 to Quickbooks for support, and NOT ONLY is the issue not fixed, but I think I need to start all over again.
In the meantime, I cannot invoice my customers!
Steve.
I understand what you're feeling, @texaspcdoctor.
I'm here to provide you the information I've got. Paypal Payment Request Wizard is now available only for QuickBooks Online customers.
Paypal Payment Request Wizard is a service designed by Paypal. Since you have mentioned that this works before, I highly recommend checking with them to see if they still have this service until now. Contacting them is the best way, to let their support check if you have an error with this application.
You can also look for alternative applications by visiting our App Center. We have lots of third-party apps that can be integrated into QuickBooks Desktop.
The Community is always open if you have additional help. Have a good day!
Hello,
A couple things.
1. The PayPal App Center has nothing to replicate the convenience of the PayPal wizard. This wizard is by far the slickest and easiest way to allow my customers to use PayPal or credit card. All other methods require duplicate data entry, which is impractical if not stupid.
2. Please expand on your suggestion that this still DOES work with QB Online, and is supported. Is this verified to be true? If you can confirm that this neat feature works with QBO, please point me in a direction, of migrating from my current QB Desktop to QB online.
Thank you!
Steve .
