Is there a way to have TSheets calculate total hours worked for overnight shifts?

Hello,

 

Our business employs a lot of staff who work overnight shifts; however, because Tsheets automatically clocks everyone out and back in at midnight, our shift duration overtime rules (any any other potential overtime rules) are not applying to overnight shifts longer than 8 hours. We currently then have to pore over every single overnight shift and calculate overtime manually; is there an option that exists to prevent kiosks from ending and restarting shifts at midnight? This is making overtime compliance incredibly difficult for our company.

Yes, there's a way for QuickBooks Time to calculate hours worked for overnight shifts, businessdaddy. We'll have to configure the Time Entry settings to prevent kiosks from ending and restarting shifts at midnight.

 

Before we proceed, please take note that any changes made to the setup will only apply to future timesheets. The existing timesheets will not be changed. When you're ready, follow the steps below to update the Time Entry settings:

 

  1. In QuickBooks Time, head to the Company Settings menu on the left panel to view the company preferences.
  2. Tap the Time Options menu on the left panel and go to the Time Entry tab.
  3. From there, tick the Allow team members to adjust clock-out time box and make sure to enter 10 in the Clock-out override hours field.
  4. Unmark the Split timesheets at midnight box.
  5. Click the Save button to keep the changes.
