Unbillled Income showing $0

I'm creating time activities tied to services with hourly rates and toggling Billable. Last month, it worked where when I created Invoices and pulled in the billable time and it was all copacetic. Now, I go to Invoices and the category/service is wrong, it says something else and reads $0.

So, two things:

  • Billable time is resetting to a default category or service
  • Billable time is showing up as $0
    • Rate isn't showing up in Invoice or Billable Income

Thoughts? Seems like a glitch. I just have to take the extra time and add back in the rate to the Invoice, but I'd like it to be as automated and smooth as possible. If I were sending Recurring Invoices, I would have to cancel them since the rate isn't working at present.

Thanks, community! Any help appreciated.

Unbillled Income showing $0

Hi there, shaboh. Unexpected challenges with QuickBooks Online's billable time and invoicing processes can indeed disrupt your workflow. I'll share some insights to help you fix and ensure your concerns about billable time are addressed.

If billable time resets to a default category or service in QuickBooks, it may be due to a system glitch that causes the unexpected change. However, it is important to review your settings carefully and verify that the appropriate category or service is assigned to each billable timesheet entry.

With regards to the billable time that appears as $0 or the rate is not showing up in the invoice, it's important to understand how the billable rate is related to the Product or Service item on the timesheet. The rate specified in the Product or Service item will serve as the billable rate. If no Product or Service items are selected on the timesheet, the billable rate will be the billing rate specified in the Employee profile.

This means that assigning the appropriate Product or Service item to each timesheet entry is critical for accurate billing. By correctly setting up your product or service items and employee profiles, you can ensure that the billable rates are applied to your billable time entries for your recurring invoices.

I think it's solved? Not sure if your bit worked or what. Seems like a glitch for a couple of weeks, and now it's fine. New time entries are turning into Unbilled Income, so I can see if we're on track for the month, then add those to the Invoice seamlessly. Thanks!
