Purchased QB 2022 DT ProPlus on 12/31/21 specifically to process my 1099-NECs on new 3 part form, since I was unable to do so with QB2018. Ran into same issue as others with new software functionality not working properly for three/page printing of 1099s (again, this is why I purchased the new software). Have followed this thread and tried numerous fixes suggested including uninstall and reinstall of software. All attempts at fixes have proved unsuccessful with QB still attempting to print two to a form. A complete waste of time is all that I've accomplished.

I was already upset with QB extorting us for a forced upgrade every year. To now be confronted with faulty software and lack of a fix by QB (or even a formal acknowledgement of the issue) is beyond frustrating and terribly insulting. A QB user since 2006 and feel totally let down by this organization.

SERIOUSLY?? REACH OUT FOR HELP ??? THIS IS THE EMAIL I GOT THIS EVENING AFTER WASTING 3 WEEKS NEARLY FORTY  HOURS and a "PROMISE" to call me back:

Agreed..."checking" for Updates isn't enough...you must check the "Reset Updates" box, as shown below, before clicking "Get Updates." Until I did that, nothing worked. After I did that, a new update downloaded, installed, and when I restarted the program, I was able to print 3-up 1099-NEC.  

After I reset, and updated, the same thing happened to me. Then I discovered that in the "Map Vendor Payments," all the accounts had been changed to "Omit these payments from 1099." So, you will have to go in and change those as you wish them to reflect on the 1099's, via the pull down for each item. 
 

i was able to do the updates and "reset" and get the 3 part forms on my QBDT 2021. BUT NOT 2018.  i think i waited a week too long - should have updated to 2021 last week!  now trying to find a way to download my info into a printable form instead of purchasing QBDT 2022

I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro.  I am unable to print my 1099-NEC in 3 parts.  It's still coming up as a 2-part form.  I have set it up for automatic updates and have also went in and physically done the updates.  According to the website, I still do not have the most recent update which is Release R-13 October 2021.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

followed these steps and still not working?  Any thoughts?

Let's see what we can do to make sure those updates come through for you. 

When you’re updating to the most current release for QuickBooks Desktop, please make sure to enable the Reset Update option. It usually fixes issues related to any critical update, as well as other possible errors within the product. In case you need the steps, here's how:

• Click the Help tab at the top menu bar and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
• Go to the Update Now tab.
• Put a checkmark on the box beside Reset Update.
• Hit Get Updates. 

Enabling the Reset Update option is critical especially if you’ve run updates recently. Once you’ve updated, I recommend closing QuickBooks and restarting your computer once again.

If you’re still not getting the update, your next step will be to uninstall and reinstall your QuickBooks and try to get the updates again.

Followed instructions and did not work

Thank you MonicaM3.  I did everything you outlined and now I do have the most recent updates.  However, I still am not able to print my 1099-NEC as a 3-part form.  They are still coming up as a 2-part form.  Not sure how to fix that.

I have installed all updates and QB is still printing 2 1099-NECs per page.

Is there any way to confirm the fix has been installed?

Is there any other way to resolve this issue?

I'm aware of how difficult it is to print late forms, Banjo, Teresa, kwgaston, and teresamckee. Don't worry, I have other troubleshooting steps so all of you can print the complete 1099 form in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

I appreciate all of your efforts in updating the QBDT. I'll ensure all of you can print and submit the updated 1099-NEC form before the production deadline.

To get started, I recommend updating your QBDT web patch to download the latest updates from a particular edition of QuickBooks. To do this, follow the steps below: 

1. Go to our Download and Updates page. 
2. Select the appropriate Country, Product, and Version in the drop-down. 
3. Click Search. 
4. Hit Download. Then go back to this page and click the Get the latest updates hyperlink. 
5. Follow the on-screen instructions. 
6. Restart your computer and relaunch QuickBooks.

That did not work. It still shows 1099 NEC to print 2 to a page.

This did not work.  I've done everything outlined in your response and it still does not put the 1099 NEC in a 3-part form.

I downloaded desktop manager. It found QBDT Pro 2015 and 2018 (which is currently installed). My two options are "install" 2015" or "install info" next to 2018. When I follow the "install info" link, it says already installed, uninstall to reinstall. Not sure I want to do that at this point. Any suggestions? I realize I should have upgraded and will do so in the future, but don't want to at this moment.

Thanks for following along and sharing your concerns in the QuickBooks Community. 

I appreciate you taking the time to follow the steps that my colleagues have shared above. Updating is the only way of getting the the 3 page form. If updating doesn't seem to work for you, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling QuickBooks. This way, it acts as a fresh up to date install. 

Before you uninstall QuickBooks, be sure to do the following:

• Download the installer for your version of QuickBooks.
• Have your license number handy. It should be on the original package or in the purchase confirmation email if you bought a digital version.
• Write down your product year and version.

Once you've done those steps, you're ready to uninstall and reinstall. You can see our guide for additional information about this process in Clean install QuickBooks Desktop. 

Please be sure to reboot your computer after the install has completed. Let me know how it goes. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your reply. Take care! 

I am not going to uninstall & reinstall. There's too much opportunity to lose data. When will the normal update to fix this be out?

I am on Desktop Pro Plus 2022 version.  I followed the instructions to update everything including Critical Fixes and it says everything is up to date but when I go in to preview the 1099-NEC it is still the two print rather than the 3 for 2021.  Can you help me please? 

Quickbooks 2022 Desktop is only printing 2 1099-NEC per page.  How do I make it print 3?  I have updated to the latest release.

Finally success! After numerous attempted fixes including uninstall and reinstall yesterday of QBDT 2022 Pro Plus, was able to get my 3 part printing this afternoon. I followed the Reset Update recommendation, closed QB and reopened, made sure updates were downloaded and finally had my 3 part printing functionality on 1099-NECs. I did have to do some minor account remapping after this update (my Box 1 1099-NEC income account was now mapped to 1099-MISC box 15 ???), but this was a minor glitch easily fixed.

Have just finished printing my 1099-NECs for 2021.

Thank you again for your assistance and I wish others good luck in trying to achieve their own successful resolution. It has taken me four days and much frustration that I believe QB/Intuit could easily have foreseen and resolved much earlier, but I do appreciate your assistance and persistence in getting me to a successful outcome. 

I did the critical update on my Desktop Pro 2022 and it didn't change it to be compliant with the 2021 1099-NEC forms.

I updated QuickBooks as instructed but was unable to print the 1099NEC forms for 2021.  The summary would print but not the NEC forms.  [Also, I was unable to preview the print to check that there were 3 on a page and not 2 as in last year's form.]
