401(k) deferred compensation report

Why when I run my Deferred Compensation Report 401(k) does it only report with the employees up to last name starting with D.  I need to submit this report asap and the report does not calculate properly.  Why does it only show about 25% of my employees??

401(k) deferred compensation report

Hey there, @marie20.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community for support.

It sounds like you might have some data integrity issues in the company file. I recommend using our Rebuild and Verify Utilities. This way, our tools can scan and repair the company file for any data damage. You can use the steps I've included below to use them.

To Rebuild & Verify:

  1. Go to File, Utilities, and then choose Rebuild Data.
  2. QuickBooks will ask you to make a backup before it rebuilds your company file. Hit OK. A backup is required before you can rebuild.
  3. Choose where you want to save your backup, then OK. Don't replace another backup file. Enter a new name in File name and select Save.
  4. Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.
  5. Go to File, select Utilities, then tap Verify Data again to check for additional damage.
    1. If the verify finds more damage, you'll need to fix it manually. Search for the error(s) in the qbwin.log on the QuickBooks Desktop support site for how to fix it.
    2. If your error can't be found, you can restore a recent backup. Go to File, then select Open or Restore Company.
Note: Don't replace your existing company file. You'll need to enter the info into your company file again since the backup was created.

Once the tools have been completed, please go back and recheck the report. If you notice an issue with the report, I recommend going over some of the steps in Troubleshoot Workers Compensation Report to repair it.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this process. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!

Joining in on this thread to ensure you'll get the assistance you need in printing the Deferred Compensation Report 401(k) in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @marie20

First, ensure to select the Census as the Report Type when pulling up the 401(k) report.

Furthermore, company file issues lead to unexpected product behaviors, such as printing reports with incomplete employees. Since the error persists after performing several troubleshooting steps, it's best to get in touch with our customer service team. They have access to a screen-sharing tool that will help identify the root of the problem and walk you through the resolution. They can also initiate a case investigation when necessary.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click QuickBooks Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern, and click Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account, select Continue, then Continue with my account.
  5. Use the single-use code you received in your email and click Continue.
  6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.

Additionally, you may export your reports from QBDT and analyze them in Excel. This way, you can include information necessary to your business.

We'll appreciate your patience as we work on this. Keep me posted on any further concerns you have about reports. The Community is open around the clock to assist you further. Stay safe.

This does not work. Updating Excel does not work. Using a portable file does not work. There has to be a solution. The program does not write as many lines in excel as it reads.
