Currently, the option to create a portable company file for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac is unavailable, Trisha. Don't worry. I've got a workaround to share.
Since there's no option to accomplish this task, I recommend converting their QBDT for Windows company file to Mac so that you can open it on your version of QuickBooks.
Here's what your client needs to do:
- Update their QBDT Windows to the latest release.
- Go to the File menu, select Utilities, then Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac.
- Follow the onscreen steps to continue, and the program will create a MAC.qbb (backup file).
To restore it on your QBDT for Mac, please refer to these steps:
- Update your QBDT for Mac to the latest release and close the program.
- Copy the backup to the Documents folder on your Mac.
- Reopen QBDT for MAC. Select File and click Open Company.
- Choose the MAC.qbb file, then Open.
- Click OK. Enter the name for the restored file, then Save.
