Accounting Account number setup

Is it possible to change the account number that the payroll exports to? I set up my bank account as First Citizens Bank instead of 10000 First Citizens Bank.

Accounting Account number setup

Yes, it's possible to change your payroll account number in QuickBooks, @Surfmike77. I'm happy to share the detailed steps to achieve your tasks.

If you're referring to your bank account in the chart of accounts, ensure that the account number feature is activated so that you can edit it.

Go as follows:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Account and Settings
  2. Select the Advanced tab and click Edit ✎ in the Chart of accounts section.
  3. Check if Enable account numbers are checked.
  4. Hit Save, then Done.

Once confirmed, please follow the steps below to change the account number:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the small gear icon and put a checkmark on Numbers
  3. Hit the small drop-down arrow under Action and pick Edit.
  4. Add 10000 in the Account number field.
  5. Press Save.

For more information, see this article: Use account numbers in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

If you mean the bank account that your employees' direct deposits and tax payments go into, you can change it in the Payroll settings.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings
  2. In the Accounting section, click the pencil icon.
  3. Double-click the Bank account and pick the 10000 First Citizens Bank in the drop-down.
  4. Click Done
