Accounting for retirement contributions (member equity)

We are a two member LLC taxed as a partnership. The members each have their own equity accounts (member contributions and draws/distributions) in Quickbooks Pro 2020 Desktop. My question is, how do we account for the impact of member retirement contributions on member equity?

Accounting for retirement contributions (member equity)

Welcome to the Community, LLC Member.

You can set up and use an owner's draw account. These are used for withdrawals that are classified as personal use by the owner. They're directly deducted from the owner's capital and value of shares issued by your company.

There's also equity accounts which is where you'll be able to see draws and investments.

More information about retirement contributions and account types can be found in our following resources:

I recommend reaching out to your accountant if you need assistance with entering these records properly. If you don't have one, Intuit has a helpful Find an Accountant tool which might come in handy.

Feel welcome to respond here if there's any other questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!
