Add customer name to email subject line invoices

It is beyond frustrating using these barebones built in ugly templates.  How can I add customer name to subject line of invoice templates we can easily retrieve from our inbox via company name, vs only showing invoice number, which helps NOONE.
That QB no longer offers option for users to upload custom forms (gone from QB lab) is ridiculous.  QB Templates are pitiful  three fonts, severely limited options.
Tried adding [customer display name] [fullname] and other variations which appear within email, but they do not work on subject line.  Beyond frustrating and disappointing. QBO all hype with minimal functionality.

Add customer name to email subject line invoices

Welcome, jolie.lotz@ybs.u

It's great to see a new face here in the Community. Let me share some insight on the subject line within the invoice email.

In order to save the subject line successfully, you'll need to at least have the work "invoice" included in the name. (Example: "Invoice Jolie," or "Jolie invoice.")

Here's a guide with more details on invoice templates.

If this doesn't benefit your business, I recommend submitting feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider this in QuickBooks Online in the near future.

Check out our Blog site to keep up with what's new in the system.

I hope this helps answer your question. If you have any other concerns, don't hesitate to come back. Wishing you and your business continued success!

Add customer name to email subject line invoices

I do not remove anything from the existing subject line, leaving default " Invoice # XXXX from " remains.

If I hand type in client name after pre-populated text, it remains and works, but I would have to hand type every time.  I need to know field names that will work in this area, as I have tried same field descriptors used within existing QB forms including fields that work perfectly within default Invoice verbiage    ...

Invoice 612593 from XXX   [customer display name]  when email is delivered, it looks exactly like this  it does not populate with client company name or display name.  I have tried several other field descriptors to map to subject line with same result.

All QB templates are outdated, archaic looking, and dysfunctional.

Thanks for the link, Candice

I have already reviewed all template info on QBO site and googling many times, before I posted here.

Perhaps you can test method you offered and see if it works on your end.

For now I will continue hand typing edits to subject line.

2023, still can't be done.  I hope I saved the next person time.  I'll try again in 2024.  Outrageous!

I agree, they dont allow you to use custom fields unless you pay more for quickbooks essentials and you cannot even use the custom fields in email templates? dissapointing
