Adding a customer or customer project to payroll

Hey all,

I read through some of the previous posts and while similar, this seems a little different.

We build in our sales commissions into our selling price. This way it is tracked as a cost for doing business. When we pay by check, not a problem, I can add the customer project to the sales commission check and there’s no issue. But now we started using QB advanced with payroll. And No where when doing payroll did we see an area to assign a customer or project. There’s a section to add a job. But it only allows for 1 job and not multiple jobs sold.

So the question is: How do you assign or tie back Sales Commissions direct deposit payroll  as an expense to the job itself and not a general business expense?

Adding a customer or customer project to payroll

Hi there, @Cmccourt.

Being able to assign a separate expense account to the job itself would be helpful. For now, we can only choose to post each employee's wages to their own expense account or different types of accounts. I'll make sure to relay this message to our team in concern here on my end and add your vote for this one.

You can also share your thoughts and ideas through your account. Our product development team reviews all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.

  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.
