balance sheet reports

How do I hide old asset accounts that have been written off and have zero balance value?

I don't want to see them on my balance sheet reports any more; too old.

Thank you.

Sue

I can help you remove old asset accounts in QuickBooks Desktop, Sue253. Bear with me. I'll be glad to show you the way.

Since these old asset accounts don't have a balance or aren't associated with any transaction within your company, we can delete them from your Chart of Accounts.

By doing this, we can eliminate unused accounts on your balance sheet report.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then pick Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click on the account that you want to edit.
  3. Choose Delete Account, then OK.

Once done, we can pull up the balance sheet report again so you can proceed to your financial tasks in QuickBooks Desktop.

Aside from that, here are some methods to pinpoint transactions responsible for causing your balance sheet to become unbalanced: Advanced troubleshooting for balance sheets out of balance.

Feel free to return here if you have questions about financial reports in QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be available to provide detailed guidance whenever you need it.
