Bill Credit template to customize for a Debit note to a vendor - Quickbooks Enterprise

I need to issue a debit note to a vendor.  The only place I can find to do this is to issue a Bill Credit.  The form that prints is not customizable.  I want to change to form from a "Bill Credit" to a "Debit Note", change the # of columns that are displayed on the form and add our company logo.

I could not find a template to customize within the program or online. Any ideas without creating a form from scratch outside of QuickBooks?

There isn't any way to edit that printed output. I think what is there was only recently added. Before that there wasn't any way to print it at all.

Has this issue been addressed in Quickbooks? AS I would like to issue a Debit Note or Credit Memo and would like to customize the form too.

I can help you create and customize a debit note and a credit memo in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Barbara.

A debit note can record and apply an expense to the next bill payment. This way, the cost incurred from the previous transaction will be deducted from the future one. Here's how to create it:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu and select Enter Bills.
  2. Choose the Credit button and then select the vendor's name.
  3. Head to the Expense tab and choose an account.
  4. Enter the amount in the Amount column.
  5. Hit Save and close
  6. Go back to the Vendors menu and select Pay Bills.
  7. Place a checkmark on the transaction.
  8. Click the Set Credits option at the bottom.
  9. Ensure that the credit is checked in the Discount and Credits window.
  10. Hit Done and Pay Selected Bills

For steps to create a credit memo or refund check, refer to this article: Give your customer a credit or refund in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. Additionally, click the Customize Data Layout button at the upper part of the screen to customize the credit memo.

Currently, the option to customize a debit note is unavailable in QBDT. To help improve your experience, your valuable feedback goes directly to our product development team for review and consideration.

Here's how to send it:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Choose Product Suggestion.
  4. Type in your feedback suggestion.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

In case you need guidance on voiding a refund or credit memo, feel free to check out this article: Void or refund customer payments in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can always get back to us if you have any other concerns besides issuing and customizing debit notes and credit memos. We're always here to help in any way we can.

Thanks for joining this thread, @ncgross.

Currently, the ability to customize vendor credit templates isn't possible in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I know how this would be beneficial on your end.

With that in mind, I agree with what my colleague recommended to submit direct feedback to our Product Development Team. They might add this to our future product updates.

Additionally, to be in the loop on new QuickBooks updates, you can visit this page: QuickBooks Blog.

You can always come back here, @ncgross, if you have additional questions or suggestions about the vendor credit template. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe and have a good one.
