We are changing out accounting year from a calendar year (Jan-Dec) to a Fiscal year(Oct-Sept). I have changed the dates Quickbooks. When I try and create a 2021-2022 budget, it won't let me. It says either 2020-21 or 2022-23. It is like it skipped a year??? Any suggestions?
It's a pleasure to have you here, @Accountingphw. I've got some insights about creating a budget in QuickBooks Desktop.
Normally, there must be an option to make a 2021-2020 budget.
If you're unable to do this, let's ensure to refresh the changes in your company file. Then, let's update your QuickBooks to the latest release. Doing this fixes possible data damage that may cause the unusual responses of your file.
If the issues persist, we can use the Rebuild Data tool to fix minor company file data issues. Here's how:
If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, select OK. You can keep using your company file. If QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file, select Rebuild Now.

Hi, @Accountingphw.
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the budget concern you had the other day. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at any time.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
After some discussion and trying to figure out the best way to keep this years budget correct and start a 2021-2022 budget, we decided we would just entering in the "new" Fiscal year. When I began to enter the first budget, the budget year automatically corrected itself. Great! My only wish is that it had done that before we spent hours researching how to fix it. I appreciate your help. Have a great day!
