Each month I compile and send financial reports to my supervisor and our Finance Committee. One report included was Budget vs Actuals - I had a template in QBD that was Profit and Loss Budget vs Actuals. I found the Budget vs Actuals report in QBO, but I am dismayed to see it only compares actuals against the annual budget, not the monthly budget!
Is there a way to pull this data and create a template for future use, since I will run this monthly?
Thank you in advance!
Hi there, MelissaC.
I hope you're having a great day! Monthly Budgets vs. Actual report is achievable in QuickBooks Online. I'll be happy to show you.
When creating a budget, there's an option to select a monthly interval. This allows you to run the report you need and save it for future use.
Here's how:
You may also copy an existing budget instead of starting from scratch. Read through this article for more info: Create budgets.
After that, follow these steps to pull up a monthly report:
I'm excited to hear how it goes and let me know if you have other questions about the budget report. I'll be sure to get back as soon as I can. Take care always.
Thank you for your response, LieraMarie_A. Please see the screenshots below to hopefully get a better understanding of what may be going on and how I can create this report:
My budget has already been created. It is by Month, and I have classes. Each class is assigned a budget within the accounts.
As you see the Budget vs Actuals report run per your instructions, does not display the budget in the report.
Thank you for any assistance that can be offered!
Thank you for your prompt reply and snapshots of your concern, @MelissaC. It gives me better insights into this matter.
I’ve replicated this issue to come up with a resolution. Then found out that the budget amounts are showing on their respective columns. To sort out this matter, I recommend deleting and recreating the budget you’ve created. This way, the system will trigger to reflect the said amounts.
You also want to perform some browser troubleshooting steps. This may be caused by a stored cache in your computer. Doing so can eliminate common errors in your company file. To start with, let's launch the website in a private or incognito browser. Your browsing history won't be saved in this mode, which also aids in isolating any website problems.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
If you're able to do so, let's clear the browser's cache. It's also best to use supported browsers to have the most secure experience with QuickBooks.
Furthermore, browse this article to learn how you can export reports if you want to use them outside QuickBooks.
