Join nowI'm importing product data (from a CSV file) and want to be able to capture information that's not in quickbooks out of the box (e.g. the cubic meters or CBM of a product). Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how I can add such fields?
The fields used when importing product data are created by default in QBO, mtbst7.
Adding custom fields is only applicable on the sales forms like invoices, estimates, and sales receipts. To have this option available when importing product data, I'd suggest sending feedback.
This lets our engineers know how you'd like the program to work. You can share your thoughts and suggestions about QBO for a chance to have them added in a future update. Here's the link: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/.
You can always post in this forum again if you need anything else. Thanks.
This really isn't very helpful. I also need to add custom information to the product list - need to track UPC/EAN codes by product/item. My understanding was that I could also track warehouse location, but don't see where that function might reside. The first issue is paramount for me, though and is a definite killer for me.
Hi rpsaperius,
As of this time, QuickBooks Online doesn't have an option to add custom information to track UPC/EAN codes and track warehouse location.
As a workaround, you can look for a third-party application that can add UPC/EAN codes, and integrates with QuickBooks Online.
To find for a third-party app, click on the Apps tab at the left panel, then enter a keyword, like "UPC," "EAN" or "inventory tracking."
Also, you can share your thoughts and suggestions to our engineering team by sending feedback. This way, they can consider checking and working on the option to add custom information to track UPC/EAN codes.

Hi,
On Quickbooks Pro we had up to 4 custom fields per product. We are book publishers and we were using this custom fields for Authors name, book Binding, q'ty per box etc. It was very helpful. Pls. consider having this function on online too.
Thank you.
Ahmet
Consider migrate back to QB Desktop and purchase a one time license of it. You may deploy a private cloud if required to access your data by the internet connection.
Very good function please add?
Just got off a chat with QB support. I'll save you all the trouble: This feature does Not Exist.

I definitely can picture out what you want to happen with the importing of transactions, however I'm afraid to tell you that we cannot import custom fields yet.I am with you on this though, and I think it is a great idea and being able to do it would increase efficiency in the utilization of Quickbooks Online. So for this, would you like to send a suggestion or feedback to our software engineers regarding the inclusion of custom fields in importing data?
In the product page there are quite some missing fields which they are important. One of them is the weight of the product. Adding custom fields in the product section is very important since in Europe we need to declare the weight of all electronic equipment we imported and since now we are doing this manually.
