Can I copy and paste a line in an estimate. Also copy and paste multiple lines at the same time?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Randy.

Currently, we're unable to duplicate a line item of an estimate in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I agree it would be beneficial to have this feature to streamline the process. Don't worry. I'll help you relay your valuable insight to our software engineers so they can consider bringing this option over to this platform in our future upgrades.

To do that:

  1. Head to the Gear icon.
  2. Click Feedback.
  3. Enter your feature request, then select Next.

When your customer accepts the estimate, you'll want to convert it to an invoice to link them together and maintain accuracy in your books.

Feel free to visit the Community space whenever you have clarifications or concerns about copying and pasting a line item in estimates. We're always here to provide further assistance. Take care and have a great day ahead.

Can I copy and paste a line in an estimate. Also copy and paste multiple lines at the same time?

I have been able to "copy line" in my desktop version for MANY years.  I was told I need to change to the online version.  I complete numerous estimates with redundant lines requiring only 1 word change.  This turns my reasonably short time to prepare my estimates in to an enormous amount of cumbersome data entry.  Do you have any suggestions how I can be more efficient?

Thank you

Thanks for following up with the Community, randy-trscontrac.

One workaround I can think of to streamline your estimate creation process is to use the duplication feature. If you have a customer who has a repeat estimate, you can save time by duplicating it instead of entering all of your same details twice. So you could create an estimate with the template of line items you want on each of them, then duplicate it from there and edit each duplicated record as needed.

Here's how:

  1. Create your estimate template with its necessary line items and save it.
  2. In the left navigation bar, go to Sales, then All sales.
  3. Find your estimate and click its Edit option.
  4. Hit Manage to open the settings panel.
  5. From your Action box, use the Drop-Down Arrow () icon.
  6. Choose Make a copy.
  7. Edit the estimate as needed.
  8. Select Save.

If you're using your old invoice layout, the steps for duplicating estimates will be a bit different. In the event a customer needs a similar estimate regularly, you can also consider setting up recurring transactions.

You also have the option of checking our QuickBooks App Store for apps which may help you achieve what you're looking to accomplish.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Thursday!

This was not helpful. I know how to copy other estimates and modify them. I need to be able to copy lines within one estimate that have to be repeated numerous times with small modification or no modification. It makes no sense to type the same line 10 times in one estimate when they are all identical.
