Can I take out the Account Codes in Reports?

I recently turned on account codes as it was needed for external connections we are utilizing.  I am now very unhappy with the way my P&L and Balance Sheet look when I run them.  It will show the Account number in the "account name."

I understand that the number is utilized to order the reports but I feel like there must be a way for me to present the P&L without the account number showing on the face of the financials.

Help! I can't present like this and it will be a pain to manually remove the code in Excel for every single account every time I need to present!

Thank you!!

Can I take out the Account Codes in Reports?

Good day, @christine436.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I can help show you how to remove the account numbers from your P&L and Balance Sheet reports.

You'll need to unchecked the box for Show account numbers in the settings so that it'll no longer show when you pull up your financial reports.

Here's how:

  1. On your QuickBooks account, click the Gear Icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. On the left-side panel, click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click the Pencil Icon.
  5. Make sure to unchecked the box for Show account numbers.
  6. Once done, click Save then Done.

That should do it. Once you pull up your P&L and Balance Sheet, the account numbers will no longer show.

Feel free to visit the Community space again if you have other questions about your financial reports. I'm always here to help.

I am using Desktop Pro Plus 2019 and I am not able to locate the option to not show the account numbers in the reports. Is this possible?

Can I take out the Account Codes in Reports?

Hi there, @karen649599.

I'd be glad to help exclude the account numbers when running reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To remove the account numbers of each account when running reports, you'll need to disable account numbers under the Preferences page. Let me show you how.

  1. In the QuickBooks homepage, go to the Edit menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click on Accounting at the left side of the page.
  4. Go to the Company Preferences.
  5. Remove the check-mark beside Use account numbers under Accounts.
  6. Click OK.

Once done, try running your reports, it excludes the account number in each accounts.

Can I take out the Account Codes in Reports?

So, I have to disable the account numbers every time I want to run reports and then enable them again when I'm done? There has to be a better way!

It would be nice if the account numbers can be disabled for all reports, just like for QB online.

I appreciate your prompt response, @karen649599.

Allow me to join this conversation and provide additional information about disabling account numbers on your reports.

You can only see the account numbers on your reports if you enable it from your preferences. Un-checking the Use account number option on your QuickBooks will disable the account numbers in all your reports.

For more details about your preferences options on your QuickBooks Desktop, please check out this article: Set report preferences.

This information should get you moving today.

Feel free to reach back out to me if you have any other concerns with reports. I'll be round to help you out. Have a great day.
