Can someone Help? Iam not able to add contacts to my customers in Quickbooks Desktop. I was able to do this before, but now I get an error message.

Can you tell me more about the error you're getting? It would be best to provide the exact message here. This way, we can easily figure out and share with you the best resolution for that kind of issue.

 

Though, sometimes we experience unusual behavior like getting errors unexpectedly. We can run the verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop to check if this is something caused by data integrity issues.

 

Let's start by closing all the open windows in your book. Go to the File menu and select Utilities. Then, select Verify Data. Afterwards, you can continue following the steps below to rebuild data issues. Here's how:

 

  1. Choose File from the main menu and select Utilities.
  2. Then, click Rebuild Data.
  3. Back up your company file and click OK. This is to ensure that you have a secured copy of your data. Once done, the rebuild data will start.
  4. Click OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.

 

Then, try to add contacts to your customer. Le's see if everything now is working fine.

Thank you for your help.  I have tried the steps you outlined and it did not fix the problem.  I have attached my error message and I am getting the same error if I try to add info to one of my leads.

Since you've already tried the steps that my colleague provided, then I recommend running the Install Diagnostic Tool within the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This will help fix common errors or glitches that may occur in the product. Here's how: 

 

Note: Before running any tool on Desktop, always back up your company file

  1. Close QuickBooks. 
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. 
  3. Open the file. 
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install and agree to the terms and conditions. 
  5. Double-click the tool hub icon to open it once the install is finished. 

Now you're able to select the Install Diagnostic Tool within the Tool Hub to help resolve this issue. Afterward, try to add contacts to your customer.
