Change Detail Report Options?

Hi,

When I open Reports > Profit and Loss Detail < it opens and on the bottom right is a list of options of what to view.
The list includes: Type, Date, Name, Clear, Split, Debit, Balance, etc.
How do I permanently change this list?  This list that automatically opens does not show "Amount".   It as categories thatI don't need or want to view. Each time I open it I have to customize the list and get rid of most of what is there and add what I need.

Is there a way to customize this list so that I don't need to mess with this every time I open it?  This list changed after I renewed my Mac Desktop subscription.
Thanks for your help!

Change Detail Report Options?

You can memorize reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) if you want the same settings from the customized report to be available for future use, Jane29. I will discuss this matter further.

Memorizing a report means that you do not have to go through the customization process again. Keep in mind that when you memorize a report, QuickBooks saves only the report settings (customization). Depending on the date filter, the data may differ or be updated.

To successfully memorize a report you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. From the reports window, click on Memorize.
  3. On the Memorize Report window, type in the name you want to assign the report. Please know that you need to enter a new name when you are saving a new memorized report. If you want to overwrite a previously saved report, use a name similar to it.
  4. (Optional) Select the Save in Memorized Report Group checkbox if you want to save the report on a specific report group (Accountant, Banking, etc...)
  5. (Optional) Select Share this report template with others. When you select this checkbox, your report template will be accessible to other QuickBooks users when they go to the Contributed tab in the Report Center.
  6. Select OK.

For more information you can checkout this article: Create, access and modify memorized reports.

Lastly, to better guide your business toward success, it's important to understand the different types of reports available. Customize these reports to fit your specific needs, memorize your preferred settings, efficiently export data, and consistently analyze trends within the reports.

I'll be nearby if you need more help with running reports in QBDT. Just leave your comments below, and I'm always available if you need to reach out.

Change Detail Report Options?

Unfortunately this is a pre-set default with the reports, each detail report may/will have a different set always showing.  What I do to get around this is modify the report the way I need it, and then Memorize the report with the settings and a custom name.  Then when I go to the Memorized Report List I can select the report I generated and it will have the settings I already set for it without having to use the defaults.
