Buy nowIs there a way to change the Insights tab to Cash instead of Accrual Basis? The company preference is set to Cash and reports default to Cash. This is a great tool for a quick reference but useless if it doesn't allow this to reflect Cash.
Thank You

I appreciate your effort in trying out the recommendation and understanding the changes made to the company preference and reporting basis to cash, as mentioned by my colleague above, GCE_Jenn.
Yes, you're correct. The Insights tab on the home screen does not allow you to make this change; it will just display data based on accrual-based reporting. I recognize that this feature is helpful on your end for a quick reference since it shows a graphical presentation of how your business is doing.
While this feature is unavailable, you may submit a feature request to our Product Engineers so they can address this matter as soon as possible. To send a feature request, please follow the process below.
Additionally, if you want to access your cash basis report outside of QuickBooks, you can export it to Excel.

Hi there, GCE_Jenn.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out for support here in the Community. I'm happy to show you how to switch from accrual to cash basis in QuickBooks Desktop.
This can be done in a few steps. Here's how:
1. In your Desktop account select the Edit tab, then Preferences.
2. Choose Reports & Graphs, then the Company Preferences tab.
3. Here you'll be able to select Cash basis reporting.
4. Click OK when you're finished.
The following article provides additional info about setting report preferences in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please feel free to drop a comment below if you have any other questions. I'll be here to lend a hand.
Thanks for getting back to me, GCE_Jenn.
I have some additional info and another option to try.
It's possible to change the Insights tab in QuickBooks Desktop to display information on a cash basis instead of the default accrual basis. You can do this by adjusting the preferences for the specific report or by changing the default accounting method for your company.
I'll be here if you have any other questions. Take care!
I appreciate the response and understand the option to change the company preference and report basis to cash is available. The easiest response is that the Insights tab on the home screen does not allow you to make this change so it is not a useful quick reference for cash basis.
