Changing account types in 2021 accountant desktop

To clarify, can you provide us with some more details on why you are having trouble changing account types in your QuickBooks Desktop account? 

This will assist me with determining the next steps for you to take in order to resolve this problem. I'll be back around shortly to check in!

We are wanting to change certain account types. Like changing income to revenue and "net ordinary income to net operating revenue. We are an accounting firm and would like to use these type names.

The option to change the name in the Account Type field is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. What we can change is the Account Name when editing the accounts in the Chart of Accounts. To change the account name, here's what you'll need to do:

1. Go to the Lists menu at the top.
2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
3. In the Search bar, look for the account name you'd want to change and hit Search.
4. Right-click the account and pick Edit Account.
5. In the Edit Account window, update the Account Name.
6. Hit Save & Close.
