Chart of Accounts

How can I access a prior year Chart of Accounts / Accounts list?  I can easily access and print the YTD Chart in Modern View or Classic View but I'm not able to enter a custom date range in either  and have those figures pull up.  When I go to Reports / Account List in Modern View I get current year figures. There is a drop down for me to change the time frame though no matter what time frame I chose, nothing changes. I spoke with the service team who couldn't help me and I searched the library and there is nothing about a prior year report. the Classic View is no more of a help.

I appreciate any thoughts.

Chart of Accounts

Hi, Rick.

It's great to have you here on our community page. I can help you customize the date range to view your Chart of Accounts on YTD.

I agree that the data won't refresh whenever you change the date using the modern view, but it works well in the classic view.  It may be browser-related, so let's start with basic troubleshooting to resolve the issue.

This browser window doesn't use the existing cache files, which makes it a great place to find out if there's an issue with the browser.

The first step is accessing QuickBooks Online through the private or incognito window.

Let's use these shortcut keys to get started:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari Browser: Command + Shift + N

If it works, return to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, use other supported web browsers. The current one you're using may have a temporary issue with QuickBooks. Utilizing a new browser allows you to get back to working order.

If the issue remains kindly contact our live support to report it. In that way, they could investigate further and fix it as soon as possible.

I've got a workaround for you so you can keep working on your tasks. Here's how:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click the Reports.
  2. In the Search bar, type "Account list".
  3. Click Switch to classic view.
  4. At the right side select Customize.
  5. Under the filter section, check the box for Created Date.
  6. Select last Year-to-date or last year. I suggest comparing these two options to determine which is better.

You can also compare your Last Calendar Year's Chart of Accounts List report with your Calendar Year-to-date data by exporting them to Excel.

I want to leave this article to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

If you've got any questions about your Chart of accounts or any other QuickBooks products don't hesitate to reply. I am here to help! Have a nice day.
