Closing lots of estimates. Should I choose "Rejected" or "Closed"? What is the difference?

Before I became a better QBO user I would leave blank the expiration date on my estimates. I have about 50 of these that never went anywhere from a year ago.

When I update the status to remove these rom the list of pending estimates I am wondering if there is any difference between choosing "Closed" vs "Rejected"?

I want to make sure I not perform a mistake 50 times even though I see little difference.

To be clear on most of these the client did not provide any further information so I am choosing "closed".

Thank you,

Closing lots of estimates. Should I choose "Rejected" or "Closed"? What is the difference?

Hello there, Casey Scalf,

Here's an overview of the Estimate status:

  • Closed- Estimate is closed and you cannot create an invoice from it. This will happen automatically once you invoice for everything that's on the estimate.  You can also mark an invoice as closed instead of rejected if you have not heard back from your customer.
  • Rejected- Estimate is closed and you cannot create an invoice from it.

You don't have to worry since you can manually change the status back to Accepted if you need to create an invoice for the estimate.

I'm always here provide you additional assistance if you need anything else.
