I have a series of jobs that should be new customers, not jobs. Is there any way I can change the jobs entered under that particular customer to become customers themselves?
On the customer list when in standard sort order and view, drag the Job to the left to become a customer.
Or, edit it and remove the customer from the Job of field.
We need more help. We have windows 10. can you give us a picture? or a video that will help us complete this task?
Thank you for getting back to us here in the Community, @mtbusiness1.

Yes, BRC is correct, to convert the job to customer, you may need to drag the job name to the left under Customer & Jobs. Let me show you how.
Once done, the job name is now converted to a customer name.

how do you do it with qb for mac 2020
Hello @gzanga,
Let me help share information in converting a job back to a customer in QuickBooks Desktop version 2020.
To start with, QuickBooks Desktop for MAC can't move a name from the list the same as what you can do with the version for Windows. Instead, you can edit the job information and remove the name in the CUSTOMER field and save it.
Changing it this way will convert your existing job back to a customer. Make sure not to enter or change a job name the same as with your existing customers so the system won't merge them.
Lastly, you can check this helpful article for the steps in keeping up with your customer's list and other names you can organize: Add a customer, employee, or vendor in QuickBooks for Mac.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate and tell us by leaving a comment below. Stay safe!
I have attempted to edit the job in QB for mac 2020, i open the job, select edit and remove the name is the customer field and it will not allow me to save.

Hello, gzanga.
I appreciate you coming back to us. Allow me to join this thread and help you save the information in QuickBooks.
Make sure to comply with the system requirements for QuickBooks Mac to avoid system interruption and issues while using the product. Next, let's try performing some troubleshooting to verify if being unable to save the information and checks are caused by data issues.
Here's how to Verify Data:
Here's how to Rebuild Data:
Your computer may display the message QuickBooks is not responding. However, as long as you can see your mouse cursor move, Rebuild is still ongoing. Just wait for it to complete.
After doing the steps above, try modifying the information and saved it. If it works, you're good to go!
On the other hand, if the issue persists, you can try the other recommendations in the Resolve data damage on your company file article.
However, If the issue continues, I suggest getting in touch with our phone agents. We'll be needing more tools, such as screen sharing, to investigate this further.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Just add a comment below. Wishing you all the best. Take care!
Hi -
We have Enterprise Solution (2023) and I tried to change the job into a customer. (This job was created by converting customer data from other CRM tool.) Anyway, from the Customer Center, in older version of QB, you simply could drag and changed. But the version I have they are all aligned and no way to drag. (The job is not in the different level, it is named as "Job Information" but in same level as "The Customer Information". So in the latest version, how can you convert/change a job into a customer?
Welcome to the Community, Miwa. I appreciate your detailed information.
Since you're unable to convert jobs into customer profiles with the steps in Angelyn_T's post, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
They can be reached while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have an awesome day!
