I have been clicking around various report in Quickbooks Online and reviewing questions online to try to find the answer to a question on generating a standard tabular format ledger but I can't seem to find anything. So I am wondering if anybody can assist here please.
I want to be able to generate a ledger report in the following format, per account, class and location for a defined period:
Account No. | Opening Balance | Amount | Closing Balance | Class | Location |
12345 | 2,550 | -50 | 2,500 | abc | uvw |
12345 | 1,000 | 20 | 1,020 | def | uvw |
12345 | 8,300 | 500 | 8,800 | abc | xyz |
12345 | - | 25 | 25 | def | xyz |
56789 | etc | | | | |
I need to do this in order to generate my own reports. However, the standard ledger extract from Quickbooks does not seem to produce this format. It adds extra lines for opening balance and amount for all accounts for some reason. I get that it is easy to read, but for pivoting data it is no useful at all and will require me to do transformations in Excel which I would rather avoid doing. I would have thought this would be a bog-standard report type so perhaps I am missing something obvious. Any pointers please?
