Credit memo how to change the account

It's great to see you here, @adriand44,

I want to make sure you're able to assign items correctly to your sales forms and credit memos. First, let's make sure the Show Product/Service column on sales forms option is enabled for your account. This setting allows adding a Product/Service column on sales forms so you can choose from a list of products and services to include.

Simply go to the Accounts and Settings then find this setting under the Sales menu. See this:

If this is enabled and still can't assign items, open a private window and check if the same thing happens there. Unexpected issues in QBO are most likely affected by the large data in the cache. This is because the regular browser will constantly accumulate data and will not remove its history automatically.

The incognito mode will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

If it works there, clear the cache to resolve the issue in regular browsing.

These are the steps to create a credit memo and how to add items:

  1. Go to the + New icon and select Credit memo to.
  2. Fill out all the necessary fields.
  3. Tap the Product/Service section and pick the item for the refund.
  4. Once done, press Save and close.

Kindly post here again if you have further questions with creating a credit memo or anything else. Have a lovely day!

Credit memo how to change the account

Good morning, @adriand44

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I hope you're enjoying the day so far. I'm happy to lend a hand with changing your account.

Items that are included on the Sales Receipts and Credit Memo are where QuickBooks places them into accounts. You can double-check your items that you have listed and ensure they have the correct accounts. I've included some steps below to walk you through this process.

  1. Open the Sales menu.
  2. Hit Products and Services.
  3. Double-click on the item, then scroll down and review the accounts.

That's all there is to it. Check out Change the account for a product/service item for further details.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. You can reach out to the Community for support at any time. Take care and have a great day!

Credit memo how to change the account

Thank you very much:) I must be missing something? I created a credit memo for a customer. No option to pick a product or item. The credit then is applied to a GL account. How is QB choosing that account?
