Customize Report

I am wanting to customize a report where I can see the comparison of years for an employee's payroll. However, I cannot find a single report that is allowing me to create this payroll comparison report. Additionally, I am finding that not all reports have the "customize" button on the top. Why is this the case?

Customize Report

The Community has you covered, @fix-please.

 

You can run the Payroll Summary by Employee Report and filter it by Yearly column. Follow along below to get this done right away:

 

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Reports menu.
  2. Scroll down and select Payroll Summary by Employee Report.
  3. In the Date Range choose Custom. Enter the specific date on the boxes. Example: 12/01/2019 - 12/17/2020.
  4. Under the Employees field select either All Employees, Active Employees or a specific employee.
  5. From the Display Column by drop-down choose Yearly.
  6. Once done, hit Run Report.  employeereport.JPG

Also, you have the option to print your payroll report if you want a copy on hand. Here's how:

 

  1. Navigate to the Reports menu and look for a payroll report you want to print.
  2. Once opened, select the Share drop-down arrow. print12.JPG
  3. Choose either Export To Excel (If you want to print your report in an excel file) or Printer Friendly (print your report exactly how it looks in your payroll account)
  4. Then click Print.

Customize Report

Yes, I understand all of that, but that does not give me the information I am needing. I need to get a side-by-side comparison between different years. The reports that Quickbooks offers are not very customizable. Can you send this feedback to your IT team? The QBO community wants a much larger variety to the reports. From what I can tell, for the specific comparison reports that QBO has to offer, you can only compare between two periods... like why restrict it to just two periods. An idea for your IT team: allow us to create a report from scratch, and not just customize the reports that are preset.
