Deleting a chart of accounts?

Congratulations on opening your new company account, Dawn. I've got some information about deleting accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, you can delete your existing chart of accounts and create your own. However, some accounts in QuickBooks are default accounts that cannot be deleted. These default accounts are automatically set up when you start QuickBooks or when you enable certain settings, like sales tax. They cannot be deactivated or used differently.

Additionally, you can't permanently delete an account, except by merging it with another. However, you can make it inactive by following these steps:

1. Navigate to Settings ⚙ and choose Chart of Accounts. 
2. Locate the account you wish to delete.
3. Click the Action ▼ drop-down and select Make inactive.
4. Select Yes to confirm the action.
