Desktop Pro 2021: Deferred Compensation Report (for 401K...)

I just noticed that the Deferred Comp Report (loads into Xcel spreadsheet) no longer includes a column for the 401K Matching amount.   I did recently download my QB onto a new computer (old computer no longer in service) but I don't know why that would matter.  I don't see a way to customize the report to re-add the Matching column.  Any thoughts?  Thanks

Thank you for getting back to the Community, lesfod7.

I'm here to share to some insights about the Deferred Compensation Report for 401(k) in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Before we start, make sure you have the latest payroll updates and update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. This way, you'll have the most current and accurate rates, payroll tax calculations and install possible fixes.

Excel based reports can't be customized in QuickBooks. You just need to make sure to select the one plan type (401k or Roth 401k) since you're unable to pull up all plan types in one report.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Choose Employees & Payroll.
  3. Click More Payroll Reports in Excel, then select Deferred Compensation Report.
  4. Select the plan type.
  5. Click Create Report.

I'm adding this article for more information: Excel based payroll reports.

You can also check out other available payroll reports that you can personalize in QuickBooks Desktop: Customize payroll and employee reports.

You're always welcome to post your other concerns about reports and payroll in QBDT. I'll be here to assist. Have a great day!

Figured it out--once the Create Report box displays with Excel in the background, clicking the Report Options tab takes you to where you can select what items you want the report to show.  For whatever reason, that setting went back to some default when I switched over to my new computer--I guess that setting is not part of the Data.

Thank you.

Awesome!  Is there a way to rearrange the columns once the report is in Excel?   I assume it is macro/DB driven.

Thanks,

If there is a way to do that, it would be awesome.  I have not seen a way though
