I’m glad to help and provide information about our supported attachment file types, @jeff191.
At the moment, the SMIME.p7s file format (a digital signature that is sent alongside a digitally signed email) isn’t supported in QuickBooks Online (QBO) attachment types. You may consider converting your file to get it added. You can visit our Apps Center or Apps menu within your QBO account to find a tool that works best for you.

Thanks Madelyn. I figured out that my Apple Mail account had the “digital signature” feature turned on, and that was adding the smime.p7s file to every outbound email, and that file attachment was unable to be read by QBO. It was the attached invoice or receipt that was the problem - it was the digital signature file. Once I turned off that feature, I was able to successfully send emails to QBO and have it parse the attachment to create an expense. Thanks for your quick response.
