Employee Time & Cost Report

Thank you for upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop company, Hartman. When you upgrade from QuickBooks Desktop Pro (QBDT Pro) to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (QBDT Enterprise), you may notice that some reports are missing. I'm here to provide insight and help you find an effective solution.

When you transition from QuickBooks Desktop Pro to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, the software automatically converts your company file to ensure compatibility with the new system. This conversion process reconfigures the data structure to support the advanced features and capabilities of the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise version.

Moreover, discrepancies often arise if the original file contains custom configurations, complex data connections. To resolve this issue, please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below:

  • Ensure that the installation of QBDT Enterprise was completed successfully without errors.
  • Verify that all your data was correctly migrated from QBDT Pro to QBDT Enterprise. Sometimes, data corruption during migration can cause issues.
  • Make sure that your current system meets the hardware and software requirements for QBDT Enterprise. Incompatibility might hinder the performance or visibility of certain features.

Next, verify that all data was properly migrated from QuickBooks Pro to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. Check if the employee rates and estimated pay were correctly transferred during the migration. With that, I suggest restoring your company.

Here's how:

  1. Open/run QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. From the No Company Open window, click Open or restore a company file.
  3. Choose Restore a backup copy, and then hit Next.
  4. Tick the Local backup radio button. Then select Next
  5. Find and select the QBB file that you want to restore, then click Open
  6. You'll be asked where you want to restore the file. Select Next.
  7. You can rename the file and click Save.

For cases where the rates and estimated pay data did not transfer correctly, you can manually input this information for each employee in Desktop Enterprise: Set up and track payroll expenses by job in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Additionally, I have provided relevant articles to help you manage employee time and payroll in QBDT. These materials offer insights into generating thorough time reports and accurately establishing overtime pay, both of which are vital for effective time tracking and payroll management:

This was helpful.  However, what I found that I needed to do was go under Employees and reactivate payroll.

Thanks for your response.
