Buy nowI was reviewing transactions and categorizing them from linked bank/credit accounts to QB online. I then removed and re-linked those accounts. I then reviewed transactions and categorized them again. When I look at my income tax tab, it appears my income and deductions are double counting some transactions. How can I fix? I believe I need to remove the entries from the linked accounts prior to me removing/relinking. Thanks.
Great having you join us here in the Community, @harpandoliveMG.
I've come to help you sort out this issue with your income and deductions double counting certain transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Relinking a bank account in QBO without categorizing your prior transactions can cause duplicate transactions. To get around this query, I'd agree to exclude those transactions that result in an error in your income and deduction calculations.
Before doing so, you can check your bank statement to ensure your books are in order. Once you're ready, I'll show you how to do it:
Do you want to undo the excluded transactions? Go to the Excluded tab, find the transaction, and click Undo.
On top of that, you can consult your accountant if you're unsure how to handle any other transaction.
When everything is all set, here's a handy resource to reconcile your accounts in the future: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the quick reply! Intuitively, that's where I started initially. The problem is, there are no duplicate entries shown in the review tab for me to exclude. Prior to un-linking then re-linking the accounts I had reviewed many of the transactions. And for whatever reason, on my tax form, my income is about double what it should be and my expenses are higher as well. But there are no entries for me to exclude! It is quite the puzzle.
I appreciate you getting back to us and providing an update, @harpandoliveMG.
Beforehand, I commend your efforts to follow the details I've provided above to fix this issue. I'm here to route you to the best support available to further check this matter with your income and deductions.
But, before that, I'd like to give some additional details so you can verify if we're still unable to find those duplicates that cause this issue.
You'll want to check first in your Bank register if some transactions are duplicates that we can remove. Here's how:
Then, go to the Categorize tab from the Banking menu to evaluate the transactions that you've categorized.
If there are still no entries, that may trigger your income and deductions. I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They can safely pull up your account to investigate this query and find possible fixes.
Please keep me posted on how things turn out. I'd be willing to lend a helping hand to ensure your concerns are taken care of. Keep safe always.
Thanks so much for sending - I did check the bank account registries and no duplicates stood out. What I did notice was I had an account named "opening balance equity" and that had old balances from previously deleted accounts (which have subsequently been relinked). Each entry under the Payee Account Column names the old account and then (deleted) after the name. Those entries there can't be deleted when I try. Every time I try it says "This transaction will cause a deleted account ..... (name of deleted account)..... to have a non zero balance"
I understand what you're going through with your banking transaction, @harpandoliveMG. Let me provide more details regarding the duplicate issue and be able to proceed with reconciling your accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Just tried that. The only option I can select is to go back to the forums. The other options, other than the paid option of using live bookkeeping, are not clickable.
