When I try to export a report to Excel, the file is created and it shows the data exported. Two things... in Excel 2007 there is text in the formula line which flashes and it reads: =EMBED("Forms,TextBox.s",""). When you press the escape button in Excel, the file just freezes. You cannot save the file nor can you make any modifications to it. Your only alternative is to use Task Manager to end the Excel session.
Now, using Office 2019, you go through the process of exporting the file to Excel but nothing actually happens. The timer indicator comes on for a few seconds and then reverts to the mouse pointer button and waits for the next command.
Using Quickbooks desktop Pro 2020. Did not have this problem with QB 2015.
I have tried all the reinstall, uninstall, repair for both Microsoft and Quickbooks but nothing seems to work. For info there is no problem sending a report via email and sending it in Excel format.
Anybody got any ideas before I lose it totally !!!

Thank you so much for your response. I tried the proposed solutions but unfortunately they did not work.
However, I managed to get a chat with one of the Level 2 support agents regarding QB2020 and apparently there is a known bug with excel reporting. This will apparently be fixed in the next update (circa next month).
Thank you again for your assist and I will let everybody know when the update is available and the bug fixed.

Now when I export a report in Excel format, the mouse timer shows for about 10 seconds and then switches back to the mouse pointer to indicate that the task is completed. However, there is no Excel file or it is just somewhere in cyberspace.
I have tried all the suggested methods of resolving this but no luck.
I now do not even have an excel file to view.
Using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 and Microsoft Home office 2019. All updated, repairs, reinstalled and individually in working order. I can still send a email message with a report (in Excel format). This is so puzzling.

Hello there, eileen999.
It looks like a previously installed add-on may be interfering with Excel when you're doing with the update. Let's repair Microsoft Office so you can successfully export reports without issues.
You can follow these steps to repair Microsoft Office. Once done, go back to QuickBooks and export a report. However, if the same thing happens. toggle Windows UAC settings on and off. This resets anything blocking the export feature. Here's how:
If you're still unable to export a report to Excel, I suggest reaching out to our support team so they can help you work on this through screen share. They also have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment and provide you other troubleshooting steps to solve the issue.
Please touch base with us if you need further assistance. I'll always be right here to help you anytime.
