Join nowDear QBO Support,
I need to run P&Ls by Customer, filtering this report for selected groups of customers. There are more than 5,000 customers in my client's QBO customer table, so it is not practical to use the standard filter to select a specific group of say 70 customers to generate the P&L by Customer for. The Drop-down list of Customers is too big to be practical to select say a group of 70 customers from.
Question: How could I generate these P&L by Customer reports, on a monthly basis, for specifics groups of customers, without going though the Drop-down list in the standard report customizations. Would/could I have to create an custom application, which would use the QBO API (P&L function) to select a specified list of customers, or is there an easier way to select multiple customers when generating this report in QBO?
Thank you Tonyw
Hi @tonycpa, QBO allows you to group your customers into different segments. You would have to assign them to a Customer Type in QBO. However, this info does not show up in the P&L report in QBO. I believe you can only ran the "Customer Type Detail" and "Customer Detail" reports for you to see your client's customer's transactions by specific group/type.
You can learn more about it here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/set-assign-custome...
Hope this helps! (PS: I am not from QBO support and in no way affiliated with QBO).
Hello @giobookkeeping,
Thank you for reaching out to us here in the Community. Allow me to chime and provide additional information about the report you need in QuickBooks Online.
I have reviewed the suggestion that Giobookkeeping shared, and it's correct and accurate. I appreciate the input to help address the issue.
Right now, there's no direct way to generate the report without going through the drop-down list. The only workaround within QuickBooks is to select a group of customers manually.
I know it would take too much time. Alternatively, I recommend you to the department that can help with API integrations.
We have a separate forum called Intuit Developers, where you can find engineers and users who can share suggestions for your concern. Here's the link to the website: Intuit Developers Community.
I've attached a link you can visit to know more about exporting data to Excel, like the reports in QuickBooks: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if you need anything else regarding the reports or the filter customizations. The Community and I will be sure to get back to you.
