For my bank accounts to update in Quickbooks, I have to constantly verify that it is me by getting a code text to my phone. Is this normal?

Hi there. Let me share information about codes when updating bank accounts in QuickBooks Online.

The code sent from text messages or email is part of the multi-factor authentication for security enhancement. It will received to your registered mobile phone number or email to verify your identity and ensure secure access to your account.

If your bank asks you a security question, answer it. QBO will recognize your responses to the questions and allow you to complete the bank setup process in QBO.

On the other hand, I recommend scanning this article as your reference in reviewing the downloaded bank transactions inside QBO: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online

Don't hesitate to reply with more queries about managing your bank accounts in QBO. I'm here to help you. Have a good one!

I'm having the same issue. I verify my bank information then it looks like the transactions update but two seconds later I'm being asked to verify my bank account again. This account has been linked since I started my Quickbooks account last year. What could be the issue? Thank you!

Hello, @MBRJEFE.

Allow me to share some insights about your bank account updates in QuickBooks Online.

As a first step, I recommend visiting the official website of your bank. Take the time to navigate through the website and look for any specific notifications or alerts regarding ongoing maintenance activities. These notifications may provide insights into any potential service disruptions or limitations that could impact your banking experience.

If there's none, you can access your QuickBooks account in a private or incognito browser.

For Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge / Opera:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mac: Command ⌘ + Shift + N

For Firefox:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Mac: Command ⌘ + Shift + P

For Safari:

  • Shift + Command ⌘ + N

Once you have opened the browser window, log in to your QuickBooks account and see if you can link your bank account to QBO without being verified continuously. If it did, you can return to your regular browser and then connect to your bank again.

However, If it did not successfully link or connect your account to QBO, I suggest contacting our live support team for further guidance.

For future help, in case you want to learn what to do if you see error messages or don't see recently downloaded bank transactions, you can refer to this article: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.
